Cystic Fibrosis and Christianity

008Cystic Fibrosis

Being a Christian and having lost a son to Cystic Fibrosis I thought I would share some thoughts about some of the things I went through and my battles with God over this dreaded disease. Cystic Fibrosis is a disease that  involves the mucus glands in your body, especially in the lungs, in which the mucus becomes so thick that it becomes difficult to expel it. This causes an environment for other germs to start to grow inside the lungs and can develop into different kinds of pneumonia which can leave scar tissue that weaken the lungs and diminish the lungs function. There is no cure but I am glad to report that through the efforts of many untold doctors and science that the treatments are improving the quality of life for those who are afflicted. My son was 42 when he was called home and I have another son who also has the disease and is doing very well at 40 years old. Some people are living into there 60′ so there is hope.

Christianity vs. Cystic Fibrosis

I was a new Christian when my sons were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and went through all the battles with God of this cant be happening, why if you are a loving God, it is not fair, panic, denial, to finally of acceptance and learning to trust Him. As the years went on the very thing that was always certain was the grace of God and his continual presence and comfort and was the one thing that kept me in a state of constant prayer. I can say without Him there would be no hope. There is nothing that will make you call out to God like watching your children suffer or for that matter if you are suffering yourself. If you are, my prayers are for you. I know that there are many people that are suffering all over the world and I am not the only one to have lost a loved one. However we are all under the sentence of death but for believers we have the promise of a better life and the reunion of long lost loved ones that have gone on before us.

 God the mosquito and Man

In my book God the Mosquito and Man I discuss some of the things I went through while trying to understand a loving God. It can be purchased on Amazon’s web sight. or you can link on to my blog page. If you are going through a particular battle and would like prayer please let me know. I know that  Cystic Fibrosis is just one disease and there are many battles and diseases that we are all fighting but remember we are called to pray one for another so we might be healed. God bless you and don’t lose faith, Mike.

Feel free to share this with anyone and please comment at bottom of page.
